DUSHANBE, May 25, Asia-Plus — It is already the second year that the end of school year is marked in Tajikistan with modest school line-up without school-leaving parties.
According to the Ministry of Education (MoE), a ceremonial school line-up will be held in all schools across the country to day morning, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., and after that all school students and leavers will go to their homes. No mass festivities of school-leavers will be held in cities and districts, the source at a MoE said.
Organization of school graduation parties in restaurants and countryside is also prohibited.
According to figures provided by the MoE, 84,308 students, including 32,729 girls, finished high schools this year. Last year, 79,642 students finished high schools.
We will recall that the Education Minister Abdujabbor Rahmonov singed a resolution banning holding of school-leaving festivities on March 24, 2007.
On March 26, 2007, President Emomali Rahmon banned the use of cellular phones and private cars at high schools. The president also banned pompous graduation festivities and “alphabet” parties.
According to him, only children who start school should participate in the “alphabet” parties.
