KHUJAND, May 28, Asia-Plus — Two suicides and two suicide attempts were reported in the Sughd province over the last weekends alone.
According to the Sughd police directorate, a case of attempted suicide by self-hanging was reported on May 25 in the Asht district. The 43-year-old local resident Nouriddin Nouriddinov attempted to commit suicide by self-hanging but his relatives managed to save him and he is currently in the central district hospital.
Two suicides and one case of attempted suicide by self-hanging were registered in the province on May 26.
“The 15-year-old girl from the Punghoz jamoat, Asht district killed herself by self-hanging,” said the source, “The same day, the 17-year-old girl from the Gulakandoz jamoat in the Bobojonghafurov district Aziza Ghulomova tried to poison herself; fortunately, medical workers saved her and she is currently in hospital.”
Another suicide case was reported in the Isfara district. The 31-year-old resident of the city of Isfara Jouraboy Jourayev killed himself by self-hanging.
According specialists, most of those who committed suicide or tried to kill themselves were motivated by family and economic problems.
