FAYZOBOD, May 30, Asia-Plus – During a visit to the Fayzobod district, President criticized local officials for improper work on distribution of ‘presidential’ lands. He, in particular, noted that some 140 hectares of lands, including 50 hectares of irrigated lands, in the district remain unused.
His criticism came during an address to a meeting of local administrators in the district center.
The president charged local authorities to increase the population of poultry to 500,000 and production of eggs to 45 million pieces a year
He also charged the district administrators to provide builders of the Roghun hydroelectric power station (HPS) with chicken and eggs.
The head of state reiterated the necessity of efficiently using each inch of farmland and introducing repeated sowing technologies in order to have 2-3 harvests a year.
Emomali Rahmon also criticized the district industrial sector and demanded at the meting that new enterprises for processing farm produce should be launched in Fayzobod.
He also recommended enhancing social security of the population as well as education, health and culture sectors.
The president promised to allocate funds from his reserve for construction of a modern polyclinic in the district.
During a meeting with local residents, the president promised to provide funds for construction of water-supply pipeline in the district. The pipeline will be finished by the end of 2009, according to him.
We will recall that the visit to Fayzobod is the first leg of president’s trip to the construction site for the Roghun HPS.
