DUSHANBE, June 9, Asia-Plus  — The Dushanbe municipal authorities have discussed issues related to providing the Dushanbe population as well as social facilities with electricity, gas and fuel, passenger transport services and communal services and preparations for autumn-winter 2008-2009. 

Dushanbe mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev held a meeting to discuss the mentioned issues on June 9, Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, said.    

During the meeting, it was noted that inspection of preparedness of sub-divisions of Barqi Tojik (Tajik electric systems) in Dushanbe had revealed that According to him, the mayor demanded at the meeting that they do not meet requirements.  The mayor demanded at the meeting that the situation should be put right within two weeks and set precise tasks to improve the situation, the spokesman said.  Ubaidulloyev, in particular, ordered that hospitals and maternity houses in the city should have their own power-supply lines.      

The meeting also considered issues related to improving access of the population to communal services and protecting consumers’ rights.

The mayor also pointed to the necessity of timely completing preparations for holding of Days of Culture of Moscow in Dushanbe, scheduled for June 23-24, and intensifying work on improvement and preparation of the city for hosting a summit meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which will be held in August this year, Saidov said.
