Tajikistan

has supplies electrical power to


Afghanistan


since mid-May.

 


Tajikistan

plans to export some 50 million kWh of electricity to the neighboring country during summer months,

-Plus has learned at Barqi Tojik (Tajik electric systems) power holding.






Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Rashid Gulov, an engineer-in-chief with Barqi Tojik, said that

Tajikistan

currently supplies electricity to


Afghanistan


at the rate of some 200,000 kWh per day.

 

According to him, Tajik electricity is still supplied to


Afghanistan


only during spring-summer period (May-October).

  






“This year we plan to export some 50 million kWh of electrical power to


Afghanistan


,” said the engineer-in-chief.

 

“Last year, we exported 51 million kWh of electricity to


Afghanistan


.”

 






Asked about electricity supplies to

Kyrgyzstan

and

Uzbekistan

during summer months, Gulov said that

Tajikistan

currently supplies to only to


Uzbekistan


.

 

According to him,

Tajikistan

’s electricity debts to


Kyrgyzstan


are inconsiderable.

 


Tajikistan

has to export 55 million kWh of electricity to


Kyrgyzstan


in exchange of 11 million kWh of Kyrgyz electricity received during winter months.

 






As far as electricity supplies to

Uzbekistan

are concerned, in accordance with the government-to-government agreement between the two countries,

Uzbekistan

should supplies some 600 million kWh of electricity to

Tajikistan

during the autumn-winter period and in exchange for that,

Tajikistan

should supply 900 million kWh of electrical power to


Uzbekistan


during spring-summer period.





We will recall that

Tajikistan

has been supplying electricity to

Uzbekistan

since late May and 58.2 million kWh of electrical power have been transmitted to


Uzbekistan


by June 6.

    







           

A statement released by Barqi Tojik said that during this past autumn-winter period,

Tajikistan

has received 492 million kWh of electricity from

Uzbekistan

instead of the planned 600 million kWh, and the remaining 108 million kWh will be supplied to


Tajikistan


in the upcoming winter.

   








Tajikistan




currently generates some 60 million kWh of electrical power per day, according to the source.
