DUSHANBE, July 1, 2008, Asia-Plus  — The fourth session of the Tajik-Chinese intergovernmental commission for economic and cooperation was held in Beijing on June 24-25. 

Tajik delegation participating at the session was led Minister of Economic Development and Trade Ghulomjon Bobozoda.  The session discussed issues related to the present state and further expansion of economic and trade cooperation between Tajikistan and China and summed up the results of work having been carried out by the commission since its third session, which was held in Dushanbe in September 2006. 

Press release issued by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT), the sides vowed to boost cooperation in sectors like hydropower, investment, agriculture, mining, chemical industry, processing primary aluminum, cotton fibers, precious and semi-precious metals and stones and manufacturing finished products from the.   

They also considered and initialed draft government-to-government agreements on expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation and avoiding double taxation.

The session resulted in signing of a number of documents, including protocol between Tajikistan and China on completion of negotiations on access to market of commodities, etc.   

According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, Bobozoda held bilateral talks with Chinese Minister of Commerce Chen Demin on the sidelines of the session.  In the course of the talks, the two discussed technical and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and China in the fields of energy, road building, commerce and investments.  

Besides, Bobozoda and Chen also considered issues related to preferential taxation, food and energy security and as well as visa processing procedures.   

During the meeting, Tajik minister proposed to expand cooperation on production of energy from renewable sources, construction of power and heating plants as well as small hydropower plants in Tajikistan, banking system, and development of natural resources, including uranium, ores and precious metals, press release said.
