DUSHANBE, July 2, Asia-Plus, 2008, Asia-Plus  —  $202,000 have been provided by a number of foreign countries and organizations so far for restoration of a head of building of Tajik Medical University that was ruined by fire in December 2007, Ms. Zarrina Abdulloyeva, Vice-Chancellor of Tajik Medical University in charge of international relations, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.  

According to her, the governments of Turkey and India have provided $100,000 financial assistance each and the American Physicians’ Association has provided $2,000. 

She noted that appropriate organizations of Russia, the United States, the European Union and Iran had also promised to provide assistance for rehabilitation of Tajik Medical University through sending textbooks, office equipment and other educational supplies.  This assistance is expected to arrive before the beginning of the new academic year, the vice chancellor said.  

She further added that the government had provided some 6 million somonis for the first phase of rehabilitation of the university.  Construction work is in full swing and the building is expected to be finished before the end of August, Abdulloyeva said.
