DUSHANBE, July 19, 2008, Asia-Plus  — After Vanj, President Emomali Rahmon Friday afternoon visited the Rushan district in Gorno Badakhshan.

In Rushan, the president familiarized himself with activities of a number of local farming units and a progress of construction of the regional boarding school in the district.  

President Rahmon inaugurated the branch of Agroinvestbonk in Rushan and held meeting with local residents.

Inaugurating Agroinvestbonk’s branch, Rahmon noted that opening of bank branches in all mountain districts promotes development of microloaning in rural areas and imrpvoement of access of local entrepreneurs to financial institutions.  He called on heads of all Tajik banks to support development of entrepreneurship in remote mountain areas. 

During his visit to the site for the regional boarding school, which will be house for 650 orphaned children and teenagers, the president charged the Ministry of Education to finish construction of the boarding school within 1½ or 2 years.       

During the meeting with local residents, Emomali Rahmon noted that 30 computers had been distributed to schools in Rushan.  Besides, two ambulances have been provided to local medical facilities and four passenger buses were handed over to the district.      

He also noted that further 1.42 million somonis will be allocated from the national budget in the second half-year of 2008 for construction and rehabilitation works in Rushan.  

Rahmon further added that more than 6 million somonis will be allocated from the national budget within the next two years for rehabilitation of two schools and the central district hospital as well as construction of a republican boarding school in Rushan.
