DUSHANBE, July 22, 2008, Asia-Plus  — A reserve 10-kV power-transmission line has been constructed to the Center for Elderly and Disabled People in Khatlon’s Yovon district.  An official introduction of the line into operation was held on July 21.

The reserve power grid is the third microproject implemented by the National Social investment Fund of Tajikistan (NSIFT) in Yovon as part of the KfW program for financing for development of basic education and community infrastructure, the source at NSIFT said, noting that the previous two microporjects had supported construction of classes in the villages of Javoni and Gulafshon.

According to the source, the power grid construction microproject was implemented ahead of schedule, in little more than three months ahead.  The line was planned to be finished in August this year.

The center for elderly and disabled people in Yovon was established in 1995 to accommodate 100 elderly people who don’t have relatives to support them and 40 children with intellectual disabilities.  At present, 89 elderly people and 39 disabled children live in the center.
