KHUJAND, July 30, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Open joint-stock-company (OJSC), Qolinhoi Qairoqqum (Carpets of Qairoqqum), in Qairoqqum, Sughd province is making preparations for the upcoming electricity rationing, Rustam Shodiyev, the enterprise director for economy and investments, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.   

According to him, to mitigate effects of the upcoming energy crisis the Qairoqqum carpet-weaving plant over the past six months has produced output more than it usually produces in nine months.

            “According to the preliminary calculation, in the first nine months of this year, the plant is expected to produce goods for a total amount of more than 7.65 million somonis, which is 5 percent more than in the same period of last year,” Shodiyev said, adding that at present, due to regular electricity supplies the plant is working in three shifts.  

Besides, to strengthen social security of employees the company has raised monthly wages by 64 percent, the Qolinhoi Qairoqqum official said.
