DUSHANBE, August 1, 2008, Asia-Plus  — 105 vehicles, including 80 buses, five container truck and twenty luxury cars, intended for holding of the upcoming summit of heads of state of member nations of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), were handed over to Tajikistan on behalf of the Chinese Government in Dushanbe on August 1.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Ghulomjon Bobozoda noted that part of the vehicles will remain in Dushanbe and others will be distributed to the regions.  The minister noted that Tajikistan appreciates China’s constant support for development of Tajikistan’s national economy and solution of social problems facing Tajikistan.

“China is our reliable partner,” Bobozoda said, stressing that despite devastating tremor that recently hit China, it found an opportunity for providing non-strings aid to Tajikistan.

During the ceremony, the minister also asked Mr. Li Jen Min (phonetically), director general of the Shanghai company dealing with export/import of vehicles, to consider the possibility of opening a service center in Dushanbe for maintaining Chinese-made buses.

For his part, Li Jen Min noted that Tajikistan is one of the most important strategic partners of China in Central Asia.
