PANJAKENT, August 6, 2008, Asia-Plus — A traffic accident, involving three cars, took place in Sughd’s Ayni district Tuesday evening.  Six persons were injured and 15 others were reported missing as the cars fell over the precipice.  

The accident took place on the 144th kilometer of the highway Dushanbe-Khujand in the Ayni district at 9:30 p.m.  Three cars with totaling 21 passengers that were involved in the accident fell over the precipice, according to road servicing unit # 6 in the Ayni district. 

“So far, they have managed to rescue six passengers and fifteen others have been reported missing,” the source said, noting that those six injured persons were taken to the central district of Ayni.

Search-an-rescue operation is going on and the cause of the accident is under investigation.  According to the preliminary information, the accident was caused by lack of attention of one of the drivers.
