DUSHANBE, August 9, Asia-Plus  — An exhibition of goods of Iran’s northern Mazandaran Province opened at the Kokhi Vahdat State Complex in Dushanbe on August 9.

            Some 40 companies are participating in the exhibition, having put on display their achievements in farm produce processing, production of herbs, packing equipment, building materials, as well as office interiors and landscape architecture at the fair, which runs through August 13.

It is the first universal exhibition of the Mazandaran commodity producers in Tajikistan.      

Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan and the Mazandaran Province are expected to sign a cooperation agreement.

In the meantime, Governor General of the Mazandaran Province for Logistics and Human Resources, Ahmad Jamshidi, held separate meetings with Tajik Deputy Minister of Energy and Industries, Pulod Muhiddinov, and Head of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sharif Said, in Dushanbe on August 8. 

During the meetings, the sides expressed interest in promotion of economic and trade ties between Tajikistan and the Mazandaran, highlighting significance of Mazandaran Province private sector”s investment in Tajikistan.   

According to Iran’s news agency IRNA, Jamshidi called for expansion of economic and commercial between his Province and Tajikistan.  During his meeting with Muhiddinov, Jamshidi noted that private sector in Mazandaran Province is eager to invest in different sectors, especially in food industry, in Tajikistan.

Muhiddinov, for his part, called Tajik-Iranian relations “desirable” and said that implementation of key development projects, including construction of the Istiglol tunnel, Sangtuda-2 hydroelectric power plant, with support of Iranian experts, is a sign of growing bilateral cooperation.  

At the meeting Sharif Said, Jamshidi underlined the need for expansion of bilateral trade and commercial relations.  He expressed hope that organization of exhibitions in Tajikistan to showcase Mazandaran Province potential and capacity will help promote the two-way economic ties.

Sharif Said noted that Tajikistan is ready to bolster economic ties with Iran, with the country”s Mazandaran Province in particular.

According to press service of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), the sides outlined sectors like mining, production of mineral water, as well as poultry and fishery, as areas of which could drive the bilateral trade between the two countries.

Deputy Governor General of Iran’s Mazandaran Province, accompanied by a delegation of provincial officials, is in Dushanbe to inaugurate an exhibition of Mazandaran”s potential.
