KULOB, August 11, 2008, Asia-Plus  — On Sunday August 10, the Kulob prosecutor’s office issued a warrant for arrest of the 25-year-old resident of the village of Dehbaland in Khatlon’s Muminobod district Tojiddin Safarov. 

Alfattoh Roziqov, the deputy Khatlon prosecutor I charge of the Kulob region, told Asia-Plus today that Tojiddin Safarov is suspected of having killed his 17-year-old stepsister Marjona Jalil.  On August 10, Safarov beat his stepsister to death, following quarrel, the prosecutor said.  

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Tojiddin Safarov under the provisions of Article 104 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – killing.  Investigation into Safarov’s case has practically been completed and the case will move to a court in the near future, Roziqov said.
