DUSHANBE, September 1, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Sunday (August 31) evening, President Emomali Rahmon congratulated Tajik Muslims on the beginning of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.  

Noting that the fasting during the month of Ramadan is the fourth pillar of Islam and purity of both thought and action is important, the president called on the population to support vulnerable people.    

Rahmon, in particular, noted that during the month of Ramadan, charitable organizations in the Islamic countries are intensifying their activities, while in our country, we are unfortunately seeing the contrary picture – with the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, prices of food product are rising in Tajikistan.

The president called for charity during the month of Ramadan.
