DUSHANBE, September 26, 2008, Asia-Plus  — On Thursday September 25, Emomali Rahmon met with his Finnish counterpart, President Tarja Halonen, in New York on sidelines of the ongoing 63 rd session of the UN General Assembly, according to presidential press service.  

 In the course of the talks, the two discussed a broad range if issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Finland in different fields.  Rahmon and Halonen expressed confidence that the session will give a new impulse to further expansion of many-sided international cooperation.   

During the meeting, the sides also discussed ways of establishment of contact between Tajik and Finnish businesspeople, expansion of economic and trade cooperation, as well as launch of joint ventures  with participation of Finland’s capital in Tajikistan, the press service.  Sectors like hydropower and mining were outlined as areas of which could drive the bilateral trade between the two countries.
