KONIBODOM, October 10, 2008, Asia-Plus — Over the first nine months of this year, the city of Konibodom in the Sughd province has produced a total of 39,226,891 somoni worth of industrial goods, which is 3,910,635 million somoni more than in the same period of last year, Ilhom Homidov, the head of the industry department within the Konibodom mayor’s office, said.
Compared to January-September 2007 the index of the volume of production of industrial goods amounted to 111.1 percent.
“Of 17 industrial enterprises located in the city, four have failed to fulfill their target; thus, the joint-stock company (JSC) Resmon (yarn production) has reached only 75.5 percent of its target, JSC Konibodom (cannery) – 99.6 percent, and cotton-ginning factory at JSC named after Boymatova – 58.9 percent,” Homidov said, noting that the enterprise failed to fulfill their targets because of lack of raw materials and circulating assets.
A serious financial situation at the JSC Konibodom evokes concern. The company’s debts (social taxes, payments for electricity and natural gas consumption) have exceeded 350,000 somoni to this date, the industry department head said.
Homidov also noted that the processing enterprises need loans, even if at 15 percent annual interest. “The enterprises would be able to purchase necessary raw materials in good time,” he said.
