DUSHANBE, November 13, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Boeing 757-200 leased by Tajik national air carrier, TajikAir, landed at the Dushanbe airport yesterday.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Nazira Davlatova, a spokeswoman for TajikAir, said that the aircraft was manufactured in 1992 and so far, it had been used by leading US air companies.

According to her, TajikAir will use this aircraft to operate flights to Frankfurt am Main.  “The air route from Dushanbe to Frankfurt is scheduled to be launched on November 20,” Davlatova said, noting that is already the fifth Western type aircraft leased by the Tajik national air carrier.

The Boeing 757 is a narrow-body commercial passenger aircraft manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes.  It was launched to replace the Boeing 727 and entered service in 1983.  Passenger versions of the 757 can carry between 186 and 279 passengers, and have a maximum range of 5,900 to 7,200 kilometers depending on variant and seating configuration.  Production of the 757 ended on October 28, 2004 after 1,050 had been built.  A total of 1,000 Boeing 757 aircraft were in airline service in October 2008.

The 757-200 is the definitive version and forms the majority of 757s sold.  This variant can carry 228 passengers in a single class.
