DUSHANBE, November 14, 2008, Asia-Plus  – The Khorog independent news agency, Pamir Media, has launched its website

According to the Pamir Media director Qurbon Alamshoyev, the site has been launched for the purpose of extending the agency’s audience. 

New materials covering the most important events concerning political, socioeconomic and cultural life of Gorno Badakhshan will be posted on the site that was worked out by the Dushanbe Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Center.  

By launching the site Pamir Media wants to make its contribution to removing information isolation of Gorno Badakhshan and promoting democratic reforms and creation of civil society in the region, Alamshoyev added.

The news agency Pamir Media was established in Khorog in 2006.  The founder of the news agency is local non-commercial organization, Public Foundation Pamir.  Since 2007, Pamir Media has made available electronic and print versions of its news bulletin in Tajik and Russian languages twice a week.  The news bulletin is published under financial support of the Tajik Branch of Open Society Institute/ Assistance Foundation (OSI/AF).
