Nurlan Nigmatullin, Akim of Karaganda Region met with Frank Pannier, Director General of ArсelorMittal Temirtau enterprise on November 28. Meeting was caused by emerging information on staff reduce in enterprises of ArсelorMittal in other countries.

Pannier assured that this tendency would not spread in Kazakhstan. He also confirmed that enterprise officially confirmed intentions to completely fulfill all terms of recently concluded memorandum. “I do not see an improvement of economic situation in the world. However, we still declare fulfillment of undertaken obligations,” he said in an interview to journalists.

”I am responsible for Kazakhstan and Russia. There will be no job cuts in enterprises of Kazakhstan and Russia in 2009,” Pannir assured. Answering journalists’ questions he noted that “despite the fact that production volumes in metallurgical complex of “ArсelorMittal Temirtau” is still shortened whole staff is working, released workers are transferred to other sections”. “We work in tight contact with regional administration. Position of Region akim is clear. It is about social stability in the Region,” head of company underlined. According to him, average salary in main productions is now US$ 800.

As for company requests regarding measures of the state support, Kazakh Government has practically performed everything. “As for relations with railroad, we continue negotiations with Kazakhstan Temir Zholy National Company,” Frank Pannier informed.
