DUSHANBE, December 5, 2008, Asia-Plus — A five-day seminar formally titled “Conservation of Mural Paintings in central Asia’s Countries” was launched at the National Museum of Antiquities in Dushanbe today. 

Speaking in an interview with Asia-plus, Saidmurod Bobomulloyev, director of the National Museum of Antiquities, said that the seminar organized by the Tajik Institute of History, Archeology and Ethnography and the Tokyo Research Institute for Cultural Properties, has brought together specialists from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan as well as France and Japan to consider modern methods of restoration and conservation of the mural paintings, in particular at the site of the ancient settlement of Panjakent in northern Tajikistan.
