DUSHANBE, December 5, 2008, Asia-Plus  — The Ministry of Health (MoH) board held a meeting on December 4 to discuss the progress of implementation the medical facility structure reform concept for 2006-2010, the MoH press service said.

The meeting also considered issues related to measures taken to ensure regular functioning of medical facilities during winter 2008-2009 and the results of licensing medical and pharmaceutical activities in 2007-2008.

During the meeting, it was noted that maternal and infant mortality rates in the country have remained high despite measures to reduce them, the press service said.

The meeting participants noted that the ministry in cooperation with Care International set up medical-consultative centers at five medical facilities in the country in 2007-2008.
