KHOROG, December 16, 2008, Asia-Plus — A training seminar on information systems for management of education sector is currently going on in the city of Khorog and GBAO’s Roshtqala district.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Dilovar Latipov, a specialist with the ADB-sponsored Education Sector Reform Project (ESRP), said the main objective of the seminar is in supporting innovations in school improvement through creation of information systems for management of the education sector.
Mahmoud Umarov, Associate Professor with Russian-Tajik Slavic University (RTSU), who is acting as trainer noted that the seminar is dedicated help education department officials “better assess significance of the education management information system.” During twelve days, the seminar participants are considering issues related to role of information and significance of data in planning process, projecting information systems in compliance with requirements of managers, planning and organization of school inspections.
The project is being implemented in five pilot sites – Ayni, Kuhistoni Mastchoh, Gharm, Kulob and Roshtqala, and key stakeholders, including education department officials, school directors and personnel, and community leaders are undergoing training to build their capacity to support the project.
The project provides a great opportunity to support innovations in school improvement, community mobilization, and system improvement for improved access to better education.
