DUSHANBE, January 24, 2009, Asia-Plus  — On Friday January 23, health Ministry Nusratullo Salimov met with German Ambassador to Tajikistan, Ms. Doris Hertrampf.

According to press service of the Ministry of Health (MoH), in the course of the talks, the minister expressed gratitude for assistance Germany provides to Tajikistan’s health sector.

He, in particular, noted that Germany-supported projects for improving mother and child protection, combating TB, and training medical specialists for Tajikistan have been successfully implemented in the country in recent years.

For her part, Ms. Hertrampf noted that her country was ready to cooperate with Tajikistan in studying issues related to improving access to health care services in the provinces as well as importing medicines and medical equipment into Tajikistan, the press service said.

At the end of the meeting, Salimov expressed hope that Germany would provide assistance with training of specialists in children’s cardiac surgery, neurosurgery and transplantology for Tajikistan.
