KHUJAND, April 6, 2009, Asia-Plus — The 46-year-old resident of the Nourobod district Muqim Sharipov has been sentenced to 9.5 years’ imprisonment for especially large-scale fraud.

The Khujand city court on April 4 ruled that Muqim Sharipov be given a jail term of 9.5 years and that he should serve it in a high-security penal colony.  The sentence followed his conviction on charges of especially large-scale fraud and bigamy.

Sharipov has lived in Khujand since 2007.  Using faked document of prosecutor, Sharipov was swindling money out of people.  Seven residents of the Sughd province became victims of Mugim Sharipov’s fraud for a total amount of 32,400 somoni (some 10,000 US dollars), the source at the Khujand city court said.
