DUSHANBE, April 8, 2009, Asia-Plus  — By mayor’s decision a running race dedicated to a Capital City Day is expected to be held in Dushanbe on April 18.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the mayor, said that the race would be held from 8:00 am to 11:00 am and participants will run from along the Hofiz Sherozi to the traffic police checkpoint Chorbogh in the Varzob district and back.

The mayor’s office has allocated 24,000 somoni for holding of this sports activity and winner will receive 5,000 somoni, 2nd place – 4,000 somoni, and 3rd place – 3,000 somoni.

Representatives of all educational facilities, enterprises and organizations based in Dushanbe aged 14 and above should get permission of medical commission and referees.  Residents from the provinces may also participate in the race: Sughd and Khatlon – 10 each; Gorno Badakhshan – 5; and districts subordinate to the center – 40, the spokesman said.
