DUSHANBE, April 14, 2009, Asia-Plus — An independent audit at the central bank of the country may ensure transparency of financial services in Tajikistan, researcher with the Institute of Philosophy Davlat Usmon said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, the audit outcomes uncovered numerous problems that have emerged in the country’s financial sector over the past decade. “Different circles and groupings are involved in these problems and only the law enforcement authorities may determine guilt or innocence of the ext-head of the National Bank of Tajikistan Murodali Alimardon,” Mr. Usmon said.
He further added that carrying out a special audit at the central bank was a positive occurrence. “In the advance countries, carrying out audit is a conventional occurrence that ensures transparency of financial relations,” said the expert, “Therefore, I think it would be good to continue the practice of carrying out audit at the governmental institutions in the future as well.”
Mr. Usmon considers that the government should set up a competent commission, comprising the interested sides, and take relevant measures to seek solution to the problems that arose following the special audit carried out at the central bank.
