Russian permanent representative to NATO Dmitry Rogozin said a meeting of Russian and NATO chiefs of the General Staff slated for May 7 would not take place.

In an interview with the Vesti television channel on Monday, Rogozin said, “We’ll take certain steps” if there was no reaction on Russia’s protest against NATO’s exercise in Georgia.

“I can say about this meeting just now. The meeting of Russian and NATO chiefs of the General Staff scheduled for May 7 will not be held,” he explained.

In his words, this exercise will not help Georgia’s military potential. “Nothing can help Georgia under Saakashvili’s rule,” he said.

Rogozin believes that Georgia “has no chances in NATO”. “But the fact that it (Georgia) will be used in different events is a reality,” the Russian permanent representative said.
