DUSHANBE, May 22, 2009, Asia-Plus  — A number of cooperation agreements are expected to be signed during an official visit of Croatian President Stepan Mesic to Tajikistan.

Croatian president will arrive in Dushanbe on a three-day visit tomorrow afternoon, according to the MFA information department.

On May 24, Stepan Mesic is scheduled to hold talks with President Emomali Rahmon and then negotiations with participation of the government delegations of the two countries will be held.  The negotiations are expected to result in signing of a number of cooperation documents, the MFA spokesman Davlat Nazriyev said.

The same day, Croatian president will meet with Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Saydullo Khairulloyev.

On Sunday, Mesic will also visit Tajikistan’s main industrial complex, the Tajik Aluminum Company (Talco), in Tursunzoda.

Monday morning, Croatian president will visit the northern Sughd province, where he will hold talks with local authorities, and from there, he will leave for Croatia, the MFA spokesman said.

Diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Croatia were established on April 1, 1999.

According to the State Committee for Statistics, trade between Tajikistan and Croatia over the first four months of this year has amounted to 883,500 U.S. dollars.
