DUSHANBE, May 23, 2009, Asia-Plus — The 13th session of the council of justice ministers of the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC) was held in Dushanbe on May 20-22.

The Dushanbe meeting discussed issues related to an agreement on registration of acts of civil status within the EAEC area, an agreement on training of personnel for departments and bodies of criminal execution system as well as draft main principles of providing free legal assistance to citizens.

The ministers agreed that the council allowed developing common approaches to solving problematic issues, harmonizing national laws of member nations of the Community and strengthening inter-agency cooperation.

The ministers decided to hold the next 14th session in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan in October 2010.

The EAEC members are now Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.  Armenia, Moldova and Ukraine have observer status.
