DUSHANBE, May 23, 2009, Asia-Plus /– Anticorruption officer has been convicted for fabricating criminal case against recruitment officer.

A court in Khatlon’s Yovon district on May 21 ruled that officer from the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption, Colonel Mavlonazar Shernazarov, be given five years in prison for fabricating criminal case against the deputy chief of the military registration and enlistment office in Khatlon’s Khuroson district.  The court also revoked his rank of colonel.

According to press service of the Prosecutor-General’s Office, Shernazarov was arrested at the end of last year on suspicion of having fabricated criminal case against the deputy chief of the Khuroson military registration and enlistment office.  “Investigation has established that to improve his service indicators Shernazarov fabricated the case against the recruitment officer on bribery charges, attaching $100 that had allegedly been taken by the officer as bribe to the forged case,” the source said.
