DUSHANBE, May 23, 2009, Asia-Plus  — An agreement on additional financing of the Community and Basic Health Project (CBHP) for Tajikistan between the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and the International Development Association (AID, an arm of the World Bank, was signed in Dushanbe on May 22, according to the MoF press service.

The document was inked by Safarali Najmiddinov, the Minister of Finance, and Chiara Bronchi, the World Bank Country Manager for Tajikistan.  An amount of the additional financing is 5 million U.S. dollars and these funds will provided in a form of grant.

The Community and Basic Health Project for Tajikistan aims to increase access to, utilization of, and patient satisfaction with health services in project-supported areas, and to build capacity and efficiency at national, regional and district levels in administering a basic package of health benefits and introducing financing reforms in primary health care.

The main agreement on financing of the CBHP for Tajikistan was singed on February 21, 2006 and the project will work till December 31, 2010.
