The Turkmen-German business forum opened in Ashgabat on 25 May on the eve of the first meeting of the joint Turkmen-German working group. A high-level delegation of Germany led by the Director of the Department of Foreign Economic Policy of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technologies of Germany, Karl-Ernst Browner, attended the forum.

The German side was represented by federal departments and more than 30 major German companies and financial institutions, including those operating in the Turkmen market, the Turkmenistan.ru correspondent reports from Ashgabat.

According to Karl-Ernst Browner, German companies are willing to take active part in projects on construction and equipment of modern production facilities and socio-cultural facilities, projects in the banking sector, modernization of transport and communication infrastructure, and specifically, the reconstruction of the port city of Turkmenbashi, and the construction of the airport in Ashgabat.

Prospects for cooperation in the energy sector were in the focus of talks.

As part of the visit, members of the German business delegation will hold a series of talks in the leading ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, as well as visit a number of industrial and cultural sites in Ashgabat and Mary.
