DUSHANBE, May 27, 2009, Asia-Plus — As of May 20, 2009, silkworm-breeding farms in the country have produced more than 860 tons of cocoons, Ms. Tojinisso Azizova, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI), said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to her, the Hissor district is the first in the country to fulfill its target, producing more than 30 tons of cocoons, which is 1 percent more than it was originally planned.
The cocoon-production target for this year has been determined at 2,729 tons of cocoons, the spokesperson said.
