DUSHANBE, May 29, 2009, Asia-Plus  – Visiting Turkish President Abdullah Gul today morning held talks with President Emomali Rahmon on bilateral relations as well as international and regional matters.

Their talks were followed by negotiations with participation of the government delegations of the two countries.  The negotiations resulted in signing of three cooperation documents.

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and his Turkish counterpart, President Abdullah Gul, inked a joint declaration on further expansion of bilateral relations.

Besides, a government-to-government agreement on mutual waiver of visa requirements for the holders of service and special passports and a program of cooperation between the foreign ministries of Tajikistan and Turkey designed for 2009-2010 were signed today.

We will recall that President Abdullah Gul heading a representative delegation of Turkish high-ranking officials and businessmen arrived in Tajikistan yesterday evening for an official visit.

Today, Abdullah Gul is also scheduled to visit a conference of Tajik and Turkish entrepreneurs that will be held at the Hyatt Regency Dushanbe Hotel and the Tajik-Turkish Lyceum named after Hoji Kamol in Dushanbe.

On May 30, Turkish president will hold talks with Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov and the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Chairman Saydullo Khairulloyev.

Diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Turkey were established on January 29, 1992.
