KHUJAND, May 29, 2009, Asia-Plus  — A 30 year-old resident of Sughd’s Zafarobod district Bahrom Bobokarimov has got a jail term of 20 years for attempting to kill three police officers.

The Sughd regional court on May 28 ruled that Bahrom Bobokarimov, who has four previous convictions, be given a jail term 20 years and that he should serve it in a high-security penal colony.  The sentenced followed his conviction on charges of hooliganism with use of weapons, preparation of crime and criminal attempt, as well as killing of two or more persons in connection with fulfillment of their professional duties.

The first deputy head of the Sughd regional court Hotam Nazarov, who took in the trial said: “Bobokarimov and his friend Abdullo Sanginov were celebrating Bobokrimov’s next discharge on January 13, 2009, then they fought at a refueling station and police were called.”  “Three officers from the Zafarobod police department – A. Ghoibnazarov, G. Hamdamov and S. Kouziyev — came to the refueling station.  When they tried to detain Bobokarimov, he inflicted stab wounds on them.  The wounded police officers are now all right,” the judge said.
