DUSHANBE, June 9, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Outgoing Netherlands Ambassador to Tajikistan, Mr. Klaas Van Der Tempel, conferred here Tuesday with Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi at the end of his tenure to Tajikistan, according to the MFA information department.

In the course of the talks, the two discussed state and prospects of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands in different fields as well as a number of regional and international issues being of mutual interest.

On the economic cooperation between the two countries, the sides noted that export of Tajik aluminum to the Netherlands was an important part of partnership between Tajikistan and the Netherlands.  During the meeting, it was emphasized that the Netherlands has actively participated in implementation of various projects in Tajikistan.

The sides also considered issues related to rational use of water-and-energy resources in the region and Tajik minister offered the Dutch side to participate in carrying out an independent examination and conducting feasibility studies for Tajikistan’s hydroelectricity projects.

Zarifi expressed gratitude to Van Der Tempel for his fruitful work for expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation and friendly relations between the Netherlands and Tajikistan
