KHUJAND, July 22, 2009, Asia-Plus  — The Sughd anticorruption directorate has instituted criminal proceedings against the Khujand Medical College director Abduaziz Fuzaylov on bribe-taking charges, the Sughd anticorruption directorate chief Jumanazar Rahmatov said.

According to him, the preliminary investigation has established that Fuzaylov took 1,000 US dollars from N. Ashrapov, resident of Sughd’ Zafarobod district, in 2007 for accepting his daughter as a student of the college.  Besides, he received $600 from Ms. H. Kuziyeva from the Konibodom district in 2008 for accepting her daughter as the student of the college.  The investigation has revealed other instances of abuse of office as well, Rahmatov said.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Abduaziz Fuzaylov under the provisions of Article 319 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – bribery.
