DUSHANBE, August 27, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Tajik police seized some 140 kilograms in several separate operations carried out across the country on August 26, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).

18.14 kilograms of raw opium and 4 kilograms of hashish were confiscated from the Dushanbe resident Daler Habibov.

Four packages containing 29 kilograms of heroin and 92 kilograms of hashish belonging to S.K. were found near the gas-refueling station in the village of Taghoyak in Sughd’ Spitamen district, the source at a MoI said.

Some one kilogram of heroin was seized in the Roudaki district.

Over the first seven months of this year, Tajik law enforcement authorities have seized 3,212 kilograms of narcotics, including 777.702 kilograms of heroin and 551.8 kilograms of raw opium.
