Celebrating events on occasion of 18 anniversary of independence take place in Tashkent and regional centers. But the mood of people is spoiled by strengthened security measures in the streets of the towns.

In large towns and regional centers of the country police officers and other force structures officers conduct checks of documents of citizens in the streets more often than before.

Road manholes are sealed in Tashkent, in other towns strengthened regime of patrol is privately introduced. Representatives of mahalla committees reassure people to stay home and not come out into the streets. Apartments and houses of formerly convicted people and their relatives are under special control. Celebrating events in Ferghana valley are held in shortened format as borders with Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are located there.

Authorities had to undertake these measures after armed conflict of force structures officers with a group of unidentified armored persons in Tashkent.
