DUSHANBE, September 14, 2009, Asia-Plus — Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi today morning departed for Brussels to attend the European Union (EU) – Central Asia Ministerial Conference, according to the Tajik MFA information department.

The conference aims to consider issues related to providing regional security, mitigating effects of the global financial crisis as well as energy and environmental protection problems.

Zarifi will deliver a statement at the conference to express Tajikistan’s position on the mentioned issues.  Tajik minister is also scheduled to hold a number of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from the countries of the European Union and Central Asia on sidelines of the conference.

The conference will end on September 16.
