KHUJAND, September 26, 2009, Asia-Plus  — The national measles and rubella immunization campaign will be carried out in Tajikistan from September 28 to October 12 this year with financial and technical support from UNICEF and WHO.

549 medical teams have been set for carrying out the vaccination campaign amongst more than 650,000 children between 12 months and 14 years old living in the northern Sughd province.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Mumin Bobojonov, the director of the Sughd Immunoprophylactic Center, said that all cities and districts in the provinces had been provided with enough Indian vaccine and disposable syringes.

According to him, 176 cases of rubella have been officially registered among local children this year.  In the meantime, no case of measles have been reported this year.
