DUSHANBE, October 22, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Police officers have seized a large amount of raw opium in a separate operation in Dushanbe.

According to the Ministry of Interior, Dushanbe police officers found 16 kilograms of raw opium yesterday evening while inspecting VAZ-2109.

The preliminary investigation has been established that narcotics belonged to the passenger S.K.  He was detained and criminal proceedings have been instituted against him,” the source said.

Over the first nine months of this year, Tajik police have seized 1,907 kilograms of narcotics.  A totaled included 1,235 kilograms of cannabis, 401 kilograms of heroin and 241 kilograms of raw opium.
