President Rafael Correa Delgado of Ecuador arrives on a three-day official visit in Russia Wednesday at the invitation of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

This is the first ever visit to Russia by the Ecuadorian head of state since the two countries established diplomatic relations.

The official itinerary of President Correa’s visit begins Thursday with the laying of flowers at the Unknown Soldier’s Tomb in the Alexander Gardens by the northwest wall of the Kremlin, officials at the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry told.

On the same day, he will have talks with Dmitry Medvedev.

These will be followed by talks with Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill /Cyril/.

Friday, Correa will meet with Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov and will accept the title of Professor Emeritus from the State Technological University in the city of Kursk, 550 kilometers to the south of Moscow.

Also, he will take part in the resumption of activity of the Russian-Ecuadorian trade commission that is due to get down to business after an interval of almost twenty years.

The Ecuadorian delegation includes Foreign Minister Fander Falconia and Defense Minister Javier Ponce.

Correa said on the eve of his visit he hopes to get a detailed picture on a number of agreements, the talks on which are underway and show gradual progress.
