DUSHANBE, October 31 2009, Asia-Plus — The Council of Federation (Russia’s upper chamber of parliament) ratified a government-to-government agreement between Russia and Tajikistan on establishment and activity of the Pamir-Chakaltay International Scientific Research Center (ISRC) on October 30, Russia’s news agency, RIA Novosti, reported. 

We will recall that the agreement on establishment and activity of the Pamir-Chacaltay ISRC was signed in Dushanbe on August 29, 2008 during Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s visit to Tajikistan.

The center is dedicated to conduct nuclear and astrophysical researches of ultrahigh energy cosmic rays using an infrastructure of Ak-Arkhar high-altitude scientific site at the Pamirs.

The first meeting of the Council of Plenipotentiary Representatives (CPR) of Governments of member nations of the Pamir-Chacaltay ISRC was held in Moscow on March 25, 2009.
