DUSHANBE, October 31, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Visiting Ukrainian delegation, led by the Kharkov governor Arsen Avakov, met with Tajik Deputy Minister of Land Reclamation and Water Resources, Anvar Zairov, in Dushanbe on October 29.

The source at the Ministry of Land Reclamation and Water Resources (LRWR) said the sides had discussed a broad range of issues related to bilateral cooperation between the Kharkov region and Tajikistan.

In the course of the talks, Avakov noted that the Kharkov-based plant Elektrotyazhmash (electric heavy engineering) could supply electric pumps of different modifications and pumping valves for irrigation canals to Tajikistan.

During the meeting, it was also noted that 24 Elektrotyazhmash-produced pump units operating in Tajikistan had outlived their service life and should be replaced.

The sides agreed that Ukrainian enterprises would present pumps price lists in the near future and the Tajik side would prepare appropriate documents and sign a supply agreement, the LRWR source said.
