DUSHANBE, November 5, 2009, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan and Poland have singed a program of cooperation in the fields of culture, science and higher education for 2009-2011.
The document was signed here yesterday by visiting Polish Foreign Minister Andrzej Kremer and Tajik Minister of Culture Mirzoshorukh Asrori.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with Asrori and signing of the document, Mr. Kremer noted that the signed program provided for establishment of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in spheres like culture, cinematography, education, sports, etc.
Noting that six Tajik students are currently studying in Poland, he expressed hope that the number of students from Tajikistan would increase next year due to the program.
Mr. Kremer also talked to reporters about his meeting with Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi. According to him, during the meeting, they touched upon the issue of the accreditation of diplomats of both countries.
“When Poland assumes the EU”s rotating presidency, it will establish contact relations with eastern countries and cooperation between Tajikistan and the European Union was one of major topics of the meeting with Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi,” Polish official stressed.
On the Tajik-Polish consultative meeting on economic issues that was held in Dushanbe on November 3, Mr. Kremer noted that specific steps had been taken during the meeting, including signing of an agreement on economic cooperation between the two countries, creation of the intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation in 20010, as well as holding of Tajik-Polish business forum in Warsaw.
