DUSHANBE, November 9, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Damage caused by today’s electricity disruptions to the State Unitary Enterprise Tojikcement (Dushanbe cement plant) has been estimated at 80,000 somoni (TJS), the deputy director of Tojikcement, Ms. Fazilat Safarova, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to her, the plant did not have electricity for some three hours.  “The plant now consumes some 4 million kWh of electricity per month and we cannot manufacture our product without electricity,” she said.

Ms Safarova added, “If the plant’s horizontal reservoirs for production of cement stop, it will be very difficult to re-launch them both technically and financially.”
