DUSHANBE, November 11, 2009, Asia-Plus  — The first forum of heads of the public service training academies form member nations of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and observers of the group was held in Beijing, China on November 9-10.

According to the SCO Secretariat, the major subject of the forum was “The Global Financial Crisis and Innovations in Public Management.”

The forum participants shared experience in training public servants and overcoming the crisis effects.  The event resulted in adoption of a joint statement, in which the forum participants expressed readiness for further expansion of cooperation between public service training academies for the purpose strengthening mutual understanding and friendship.

Ms. Nazira Ghafforova, the head of the Public Servants Advanced Training Institute at the President of Tajikistan, represented Tajikistan at the forum.

Established in 2001, the SCO now comprises China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.  Mongolia, India, Pakistan and Iran are observers of the group.
