KHUJAND, November 17, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Compared to last year, cotton-ginning factories in the Sughd province have increased cotton fiber output on average by one percent, according to the Sughd agriculture directorate.

The source at the Sughd agriculture directorate says that current average cotton fiber output is 34.1 percent, though some cotton ginneries have reported even higher output.

“The highest fiber output has been reported by the cotton-ginning factory of Joint Stock Company, K. Abdulov, in the Mastchoh district – 34.6 percent,” said the source, “The cotton-ginning factory named after Boymatova in Konibodom has reported the cotton fiber output of 34.5 percent”

He added that Sughd farmers have yielded 81,169 tons of raw cotton by November 17, which is 74.33 percent of their target.  They have pledged to produce 84,168 tons f raw cotton this year.
